TriVision Wins Contract with National Institutes of Health (NIH)

TriVision Studios won a competitive bid with the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to provide professional audio and video services for the National Library of Medicine (NLM), the world’s largest medical library located on the campus of NIH in Bethesda, Maryland.

NIH saw the need for the use of an external company for the library’s production services and awarded the contract to TriVision Studios. The services TriVision has agreed to conduct for NLM include: video production and editing (post-production), computer graphics, animation and imaging for video, program content research, analysis and documentation, onsite make-up, talent, costuming and props, equipment rental, and field production crew.

The National Institutes of Health is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, which is the primary federal agency for conducting and supporting medical research. Helping lead the way toward important medical discoveries that improve people's health and save lives, NIH scientists investigate ways to prevent disease, as well as find causes, treatments, and even cures for common and rare diseases. Composed of 27 institutes and centers and with its headquarters in Bethesda, the NIH has more than 18,000 employees on the main campus and also at satellite sites across the country.  As part of NIH, the National Library of Medicine houses one of the world's largest histories of medicine collections.

TriVision Provides Media Production Training for Afghanistan Ministry of Defense

TriVision Studios was given the opportunity to provide video equipment training and certification for the personnel at the Afghan National Army in Kabul. In collaboration with RANA Technologies, a leading ICT company in Afghanistan, TriVision also provided the Army professional video cameras, turnkey editing systems, mobile theater equipment, uninterruptable power supply (UPS) units and installation.

The purpose of this project was to equip and train the Afghan National Army with mobile media production capability. TriVision provided the Army’s media personnel a 20-Day crash course training in video shooting, editing and presentation.

TriVision was able to deliver this high-end equipment and intense training program successfully, considering the required video production equipment and training services were not readily available in Afghanistan. The equipment installations and training services took place at the Afghan National Army site in Kabul.

The training section was comprised of camera operation techniques, video editing sessions, sound acquisition, lighting, and other video related disciplines. TriVision also translated and produced Dari and Pashto instruction manuals for students.

Upon completion of the 20-day training session, Brigadier General Azimi, spokesman for the Afghanistan Ministry of Defense, Arsalan Lutfi, Creative Director of TriVision Studios, along with Mr. Shafi Ghafoor, VP of Operations for RANA Technologies presented a certificate of completion to each student who attended the training.

VIP Communications Dials TriVision for Assistance

Since 1996, VIP Communications has been offering prepaid long distance service for the United States and over 30 countries worldwide. Due to the increased demand for long distance calling cards over the last few years, VIP saw an opportunity to get their message out to a wider audience.

VIP Communications contacted TriVision Studios to help create a television advertising campaign that would reach the increasing number of Hispanic-Americans looking for a reasonably priced international long distance service.

To convey their two distinct messages, TriVision produced VIP Communications with two commercial spots. The challenges in creating these ads included producing both commercials entirely in Spanish, including hiring several Spanish speaking actors in order to add an authentic feel and a message that resonated to the target audience.

The first commercial spot, titled "Lost Minutes", was shot entirely at TriVision Studios' Chantilly facility. The use of the white backdrop gave the commercial a clean and modern look, providing less visual distraction so that the audience will be more likely to focus on the core message. The second spot, titled "Cell Phone", was shot at various outdoor locations to mirror the versatility found in the everyday life of typical cell phone users, whether in their cars, at work, or just out and about.

The final commercials were broadcast on Univision and Telemundo. Click to watch the commercials: TV Spot 1 | TV Spot 2.

The High Costs and Benefits of Advertising

In 2008, spending on advertising has been estimated at $193.6 billion in North America and $494 billion worldwide, and the latter to exceed $500 billion by 2010¹.

Why do companies spend so much on advertising and what are the benefits they gain from these expenditures?

Advertising is an essential component of any business. In essence, it is a form of communication between you and a potential consumer to try to persuade them to purchase or consume a particular brand of product or service. How much to spend, where to place the ads, how often, what message to send, and to whom, are some of the main questions related to choosing the right advertising strategy for your organization or product.

According to a business-to-business media study conducted by Yankelovich Partners and Harris Interactive, businesses that continue to advertise regardless of economic times have a competitive advantage over businesses that trim their ad budgets.

The majority of executives interviewed in the study agree that seeing a company advertise during slower times makes them feel more positive about the company’s commitment to its products and services. But perhaps most important is staying at the top of buyers’ minds when purchase decisions are made.

Perhaps the best way to illustrate the importance of advertising is the huge role it has played in the 2008 U.S. presidential campaigns. It is reported that during the first two weeks of October alone, Democratic nominee, Barack O’bama, spent more than $105 million on advertising while Republican nominee, John McCain, spent about $19 million².

It is clear that while advertising may be expensive, the potential benefits gained by advertising can outweigh the price. In today's technologically savvy world, radio, television and internet all help make advertising be one of the most useful and targeted tools for your business. By using the right branding and marketing techniques, you can use advertising as a way to achieve valuable results and stimulate profitable gain.
